Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North) has affirmed the authenticity of medical and toxicology reports concerning his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, which have been circulating widely on social media.
In a detailed two-part statement signed by his Communications Team Lead, the Senator disclosed that multiple medical facilities had detected dangerously high levels of substances in Regina’s system. According to the statement, she was rushed to Nizamiya Hospital unconscious on October 3 following a drug overdose.
The reports confirmed the presence of marijuana, cocaine, morphine, opiates, and critically high levels of alcohol, underscoring serious health risks. Senator Nwoko’s office emphasized that while the rehabilitation center responsible for the reports clarified it did not leak the documents, it did not deny authoring them.
The statement also highlighted challenges in her recovery, noting repeated interference from some of her siblings, who allegedly supplied her with alcohol and marijuana while she was undergoing treatment, making rehabilitation ineffective.
Senator Nwoko explained his insistence on therapy stems from concern for Regina’s wellbeing and that of their two young sons. “Several of Regina’s recent decisions are not coming from a stable and healthy frame of mind. She is vulnerable, unprotected, and exposed to individuals who exploit her for personal gain. Her online behaviour reflects her current struggles,” the statement read.
Acknowledging the discomfort caused by the public disclosure of private medical information, the Senator stressed that past private attempts to help had failed. Given the severity of her condition, continued silence was no longer an option.
“The reports are authentic. The hospitals and rehabilitation centres did not leak them. Regina needs consistent treatment, support, and protection—not denial, not interference, and not enabling. She is a mother, and she deserves the chance to regain her health and stability,” the statement concluded.
As of publication, Regina Daniels has yet to respond to her estranged husband’s comments.
