The National Assembly has officially unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, following the end of her six-month suspension from the Senate.
Her office Suite 2.05 in the Senate Wing of the National Assembly complex was reopened on Tuesday morning by the Sergeant-at-Arms, accompanied by security personnel.
Background: Suspension Over Seat Protest
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March 2025 for alleged misconduct after protesting the reassignment of her Senate seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session on February 20.
The Senate leadership accused her of violating legislative decorum, barring her from participating in all official activities of the 10th National Assembly for a six-month period.
Though her suspension officially ended in September 2025, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had not resumed duties due to ongoing legal challenges and alleged resistance from Senate leadership.
Just last week, the embattled senator reportedly wrote to the Senate notifying them of her intent to return to legislative duties, a request the upper chamber initially rejected.
The unsealing of her office signals a potential return to active legislative duties, though it remains unclear if she will be allowed to resume full participation in plenary sessions and committee work.
As of press time, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has not issued an official statement regarding the reopening of her office.
