Nottingham Forest manager, Sean Dyche, has shared a new update regarding the fitness progress of Nigerian defender Ola Aina, who has been out of action since September.
Aina picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty with the Super Eagles, a setback that has ruled him out of Forest’s last 14 matches across all competitions. His prolonged absence has been felt within the squad, particularly in defensive rotations.
The former Chelsea and Torino full-back sparked optimism among supporters earlier this week after he was spotted participating in training, raising hopes that he could soon return to competitive action.
Dyche, however, has clarified that while Aina is recovering well, Nottingham Forest will not rush him back onto the pitch. The club intends to carefully manage his workload to prevent any setbacks.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of Forest’s UEFA Europa League clash with Malmo, Dyche explained that the 27-year-old still needs more time before rejoining full team sessions.
“Ola Aina is not on the grass with us yet, he’s still going to take a bit of time,” the Nottingham Forest boss told reporters at the pre-match press conference of the club’s UEFA Europa League clash against Malmo.
The Premier League side remains hopeful that Aina will complete his rehabilitation soon, with fans eager to see him return as Forest continues its push across domestic and European competitions.
