Music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to leave prison earlier than initially scheduled after enrolling in a federal drug rehabilitation program, according to public records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons cited by Page Six.
Combs’ projected release date has been moved from June 4, 2028, to April 25, 2028, roughly six weeks earlier than previously anticipated. The adjustment followed his admission into the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) in November 2025, a federal initiative that allows qualifying inmates to earn sentence reductions upon successful completion.
A representative for the Bad Boy Records founder confirmed his commitment to the program:
“Mr. Combs is an active participant in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start. He is fully engaged in his work, focused on growth, and committed to positive change.”
Combs’ prison timeline has been subject to changes in recent months. In November 2025, his release date was extended from May 8, 2028, to June 4, following allegations that he violated certain prison regulations at Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix in New Jersey.
The rapper is also pursuing legal avenues to challenge his conviction. In December, he filed an appeal seeking a reversal or reduction of his four-year sentence, arguing that the prosecution failed to sufficiently prove the case and that the sentence was disproportionate. Federal prosecutors opposed the appeal in February, urging the court to maintain both the conviction and sentence.
Combs was convicted on two counts related to transportation for prostitution and is currently serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix.
The new early release date marks a significant development in the ongoing legal and correctional proceedings surrounding the hip-hop mogul.
