Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has questioned the traditional expectation that couples should abstain from s3x until marriage.
In a recent Instagram video, Martins addressed a popular pastoral analogy comparing men who seek premarital s3x to bicycles, while women are advised to wait for a Bentley, symbolizing true commitment.
“What if I am the Bicycle and the man is the Bentley? I am loyal, I don’t cheat, and I do not play games. Why would I enter a lifelong partnership without confirming if my partner can meet my needs, including s3xually?” Martins asked.
The actress described s3xual compatibility as an essential part of understanding a partner before marriage, rather than a moral failing. She stressed that waiting for marriage does not automatically guarantee loyalty or a successful relationship.
“Making a man wait doesn’t guarantee he will stay, and starving him doesn’t make you a good girl. Any man that will stay, will stay; any man that will leave, will leave,” she said.
Martins clarified that she approaches relationships with full commitment and fidelity, and her decision to know her partner intimately before marriage is a measure to avoid future marital complications.
“It is okay for me to get to know this man in and out, s*x included, before I finally settle down. Blindly entering into marriage without understanding your partner is risky,” she added.
Her comments challenge prevailing cultural norms and spark discussion on the importance of communication, trust, and compatibility in modern relationships.
