Arsenal defender William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract with the Premier League club, extending his stay at the Emirates until 2030.
The 24-year-old France international had been widely expected to commit his future to the Gunners despite previous links with Real Madrid. His new five-year deal replaces his existing contract, which was due to expire in 2027.
Saliba joined Arsenal from Saint-Étienne in 2019 but initially spent several seasons out on loan before establishing himself as a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s side during the 2022/23 campaign. Since then, he has been central to a defence that has helped Arsenal finish runners-up in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons.
Speaking after signing his contract, Saliba said he was delighted to prolong his stay in north London.
“I feel at home. We have a good team, we have a good squad, we have good staff. The coach is perfect for me, so it’s the best place to be,” he said.
“I enjoy every day when I have the chance to wear this shirt. I try to give everything, and now I’ll give even more to this club and to the fans.”
Manager Mikel Arteta praised the defender’s influence both on and off the pitch.
“William is loved by all the players and staff, and that speaks volumes about his character, commitment and attitude every day,” Arteta said.
“Since joining us, William has grown so much, embraced responsibility, and has created a strong connection with our supporters and everyone at the club.”
Arsenal are currently second in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Liverpool after six matches.
