Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League table with a dramatic 1-0 win at Burnley on Sunday.
The Reds, who were briefly displaced by Arsenal after their 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, looked set for frustration at Turf Moor despite dominating with 26 shots and nearly 80% possession.
Their breakthrough came deep into stoppage time when Hannibah Mejbri handled inside the area after Lesley Ugochukwu had been sent off for two yellow cards. Mohamed Salah coolly converted the penalty to seal all three points for Arne Slot’s side.
The victory preserves Liverpool’s perfect start to the campaign, taking them to 12 points from four games and back above Arsenal at the summit.
