Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has publicly acknowledged engaging in traditional spiritual practices, stating that they play a role in enhancing his personal well-being and career.
Osupa made the remarks during the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran actor Fatai Odua, widely known as Lalude, on March 30.
In a video from the event that later circulated online, the singer encouraged individuals to explore practices that could improve their focus and memory, while stressing that such beliefs should not be viewed negatively.
He described what is often referred to as āvoodooā as a means of self-improvement rather than harmful activity, adding that his intentions are centred on progress and a better quality of life.
According to Osupa, he performs daily obeisance to Ifa, which he considers a key part of his routine. He suggested that these practices complement, rather than replace, conventional efforts toward achieving success.
The artiste also dismissed claims that he relies solely on mainstream religious teachings, asserting that many people privately engage in similar practices but choose not to speak about them openly.
His comments have since sparked conversations around the role of traditional beliefs in modern Nigerian society, particularly within the entertainment industry.
