Artist and actor Adeoluwa Okusaga, popularly known as Saga, has disclosed that his appearance on Big Brother Naija was a strategic decision aimed at launching a career in entertainment.
Speaking during an interview with journalists, the former housemate said he never followed the reality show before auditioning. Instead, colleagues at his workplace persuaded him to give it a shot.
“My colleagues at work literally begged me to go for Big Brother; I never watched the show,” he said.
Saga explained that his move into reality television was not accidental fame but a deliberate pivot toward the creative industry.
According to him, while studying engineering at university, he put aside artistic interests to focus fully on academics. It was only after graduation that he began seriously exploring creative pursuits.
“I went to Big Brother Naija to launch my career as an entertainer,” he stated, noting that he officially resumed drawing a year after leaving school.
An engineering graduate, Saga drew connections between technical training and artistic expression. He referenced Renaissance polymath Leonardo da Vinci as an example of someone who thrived in both science and art.
He argued that engineering demands imagination, problem-solving skills, and intelligence — qualities he believes are equally essential in creative fields.
After completing his studies, Saga said he immersed himself in music, fitness, and visual art. He recalled taking his drawing board to work and sketching during downtime, balancing his technical job with growing creative ambitions.
He described his experience on Big Brother Naija as challenging but transformative.
“The Big Brother experience was good. It was rough at the time, but in hindsight, it was absolutely worth it,” he said, adding that he cannot imagine his life unfolding differently.
Since leaving the show, Saga has transitioned into acting and has featured in several film projects, continuing to build a multifaceted career in the entertainment industry.
