President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga have separately convinced Nairobi Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to drop plans to impeach Governor Johnson Sakaja.
The two principals gave the city governor 60 days to put his house in order.
The Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the Azimio la Umoja coalition had summoned the MCAs in an apparent attempt to prevent the imminent impeachment of Mr Sakaja and his deputy James Muchiri.
ODM members — whose party holds the majority in the Assembly — held their meeting at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation (JOOF), while the ruling UDA party members met at State House.
These parallel meetings came just a day after Mr Odinga held closed-door sessions with the Assembly leadership, with Governor Sakaja in attendance.
