Russia has sharply condemned recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran, calling them a “dangerous adventure” that could push the Middle East toward a “catastrophe,” while urging Russian citizens to leave both Iran and Israel.
In a strongly worded statement, Russia’s foreign ministry accused Washington and Tel Aviv of escalating tensions in an already volatile region.
“Washington and Tel Aviv have once again embarked on a dangerous adventure that is rapidly bringing the region to the brink of a humanitarian, economic — and this cannot be ruled out — radiological catastrophe,” the ministry said.
Moscow warned that the attacks risk triggering an “unpredictable chain reaction” and an “escalating spiral of violence,” placing full responsibility for the fallout on the United States and Israel.
“The aggressors’ intentions are clear and openly declared: to destroy the constitutional order and overthrow the government of a state they find undesirable,” the statement added, accusing the two allies of seeking regime change against a country that “refused to submit to the diktat of force and hegemonism.”
Deepening Moscow–Tehran Ties
Iran has become one of Russia’s closest partners since the start of Moscow’s military offensive in Ukraine. In 2025, the two countries formalized their alignment by signing a strategic partnership treaty aimed at expanding cooperation, including in the military sphere.
Kyiv and its Western allies have accused Tehran of supplying Russia with Shahed drones and short-range missiles used in Ukraine — allegations Iran has denied.
Call for Restraint — and Evacuations
Amid mounting fears of wider conflict and possible US intervention, the Kremlin has repeatedly called for restraint. It now says it is “ready to contribute to the search for peaceful solutions” grounded in international law, mutual respect, and a balance of interests.
At the same time, Moscow has advised its citizens to leave Iran and issued a similar warning to Russians in Israel, reflecting growing concerns that the confrontation could intensify.
With regional tensions rising and major powers increasingly entangled, Russia’s warning underscores the risk that the crisis could spill beyond its immediate actors — with consequences that extend far beyond the battlefield.
