Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has shared an unusual perspective on paternity disputes, saying he would continue raising a child he already considers his own even if a DNA test proves he is not the biological father.
The actor made the remark during an interview with BBC Yoruba, where he discussed how he might handle a situation involving a paternity test.
According to Salami, emotional connection and the bond formed while raising a child could outweigh biological ties.
“If DNA says a child is not mine and I already see the child as mine, I will accept the child,” he said.
However, the actor admitted he is uncertain how he would react toward his wife if such a revelation occurred, suggesting that the situation could be more complicated when it comes to marital trust.
Salami’s comments have sparked conversation about family relationships and paternity issues, topics that frequently generate debate in Nigerian society.
In the same interview, the actor also reflected on the sudden passing of colleague Allwell Ademola, describing it as a reminder of life’s unpredictability.
He noted that medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest can affect anyone, regardless of lifestyle choices. Salami also acknowledged Ademola’s efforts to manage her asthma condition before her death.
The actor’s remarks add to ongoing discussions within the entertainment industry about personal values, family dynamics and the realities faced by public figures.
