Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has spoken publicly for the first time following the death of his close friend and mentor, actress Allwell Ademola, who passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Ademola reportedly died from a heart attack, a development that sent shockwaves through the Nigerian film industry and prompted an outpouring of grief from colleagues and fans.
In the days following her death, many Nigerians expressed concern over Salami’s well-being, flooding his social media pages with messages of sympathy. The actor eventually responded with an emotional Instagram post that revealed the depth of his grief.
In his message, Salami pleaded with people not to attempt to console him when they see him, explaining that he is still struggling to process the loss.
“Please, when you see me, don’t try to console me, because I will break down. I still can’t say farewell, Shuga Boo. All is not well at the moment,” he wrote.
The actor disclosed that despite days of uncontrollable tears, the pain remains overwhelming. However, he said he is determined to remain strong for the sake of family, friends, fans, and especially his children.
“Seventy-two hours of endless tears still can’t bring back my Shuga Boo. But for the sake of our family, friends, and fans who showed up with prayers, calls, and posts, and most especially for my children, who will draw strength from me as we learn to move on without our Allwell Ademola, I promise to stand strong,” Salami added.
He also acknowledged the numerous messages and calls he has received, noting that while he is grateful for the concern, he currently lacks the strength to respond.
“To everyone who has genuinely reached out to me with love and concern for my state of mind and well-being, I see it all. I’m just too weak to read, listen, respond, or even find the words to express how I really feel right now,” he said.
Allwell Ademola was a respected actress and filmmaker whose death has left a deep void in Nollywood, with tributes continuing to pour in from across the industry.
