Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney believes Chelsea have what it takes to challenge Arsenal in the Premier League title race this season.
Rooney shared his thoughts on Amazon Prime following Chelsea’s emphatic 3–0 Champions League victory over Barcelona on Tuesday night.
Enzo Maresca’s side delivered one of their strongest performances of the campaign at Stamford Bridge, with the breakthrough coming from a Jules Kounde own goal, before Willian Estevao and Liam Delap added their names to the scoresheet.
The win serves as a major confidence boost as Chelsea prepare to host league leaders Arsenal next in the Premier League, where they will aim to close the current six-point gap between the two sides.
Rooney, analysing Chelsea’s progress under Maresca, said:
“Maresca has managed the team really well. They are probably missing their best player (Cole Palmer) and we forgot about him tonight because the performance was that good. They are doing something right, they are looking a threat and the more confidence they get, the more they will win. They can push Arsenal.”
Chelsea remain firmly in the hunt as the title race intensifies, with their improving form, tactical cohesion, and depth positioning them as one of Arsenal’s strongest challengers heading into the second half of the season.
