Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, has expressed confidence that his side can secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Leopards currently sit second in Group C with 14 points, trailing leaders South Africa by just three. With two fixtures remaining, Rohr’s team has a strong chance of progressing—either by topping the group or ranking among the best second-placed sides.
“There are two games left and anything is still possible. With 14 points now, we have the chance to finish first in the group, but also to be among the best runners-up,” Rohr said.
He praised his players’ growth and resilience: “We absolutely must continue on this path. The team has become balanced, it no longer concedes goals. It fights together.”
Rohr cautioned against overconfidence but insisted belief remains intact. “We remain hopeful without falling into excessive optimism. We know it will be difficult. We know Rwanda; we have already beaten Nigeria here. So yes, anything is possible,” he added.
