Manchester City midfielder Rodri will sit out Spain’s upcoming international fixtures after picking up a muscle injury on Sunday.
The 28-year-old insisted the problem was “not serious” but said there was “no risk with the national team” as he focuses on returning to fitness.
“I am feeling better, but no risk with the national team. I hope to be available in two weeks for the Everton game,” Rodri told journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente will now be forced to consider alternative midfield options during the international window, while City monitor his recovery closely ahead of the Premier League clash with Everton and key Champions League group stage fixtures.
