Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has promised to help Kelechi Iheanacho get back to his best following the Nigerian forward’s move to Scotland.
Iheanacho, who previously played under Rodgers at Leicester City, joined Celtic this summer after a difficult spell at Sevilla, where he scored just three goals in 11 appearances. The 28-year-old also had a short stint with Middlesbrough in the Championship earlier this year, but the move failed to reignite his career.
Rodgers, however, believes Iheanacho’s talent can shine again under his guidance.
“Thankfully at the end of the window there was a player that was available that I know very well,” Rodgers told Celtic TV.
“Kel was a player that was brilliant for me at Leicester. I only want to take someone here who was robust and he’s a genuine talent. And if I can get that out of him again it could be a big plus for us.”
Iheanacho could make his debut for Celtic against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday.
