Rivers United technical adviser, Finidi George, has addressed his team’s 3-0 loss to Pyramids FC in their CAF Champions League Group A clash at the 30 June Stadium, Cairo, on Saturday night.
Despite holding the defending champions in the first half, Rivers United struggled after the break, conceding all three goals to Ahmed Atef El Sayed.
Commenting on the defeat, Finidi highlighted errors and missed opportunities as key factors. “We played well but the final touch was not there,” he said. “We did well in the first half and in the second half, their first goal was a mistake from our defender. If you allow a team like this to score, they will gain momentum, and from that they got their second goal, and from there the game was over.”
The Rivers United coach stressed the need for improved finishing and defensive focus as his side looks to recover in the remaining group stage fixtures.
