Former Enyimba striker, Chibuzor Ozurumba, has voiced strong belief that Rivers United will advance from their CAF Champions League group, despite facing some of the continent’s toughest teams.
Rivers United have been drawn in Group A, alongside defending champions Pyramids FC of Egypt, RS Berkane of Morocco, and Power Dynamos from Zambia.
Speaking with Sports247, Ozurumba commended the Pride of Rivers for what he described as a remarkable and historic achievement in reaching the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
“It’s a very strong group, and I credit Rivers United for their ability to make it into the group stage — that’s history on its own,” Ozurumba said.
“The next stage will be tougher because their opponents are strong teams, but the fact that Rivers United made it this far shows they are also a formidable side. Their opponents must be wary of them.
“For me, Rivers United will qualify from that group, but they need to keep working hard. If they do, the results will show. I strongly believe they have what it takes.”
Rivers United are aiming to build on their recent domestic success and make a deep run in the CAF Champions League this season.
