The Rivers State Government has announced a minor reshuffle within the State Executive Council, with changes affecting key ministerial positions.
Under the adjustment, Christopher Green has been redeployed from the Ministry of Sports to the Ministry of Justice, where he now serves as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
His appointment follows the exit of Dagogo Iboroma, who vacated the position after a recent Supreme Court ruling that resolved Rivers State’s political crisis.
The apex court decision also nullified the appointments of commissioners previously screened and confirmed by the Victor Oko-Jumbo–led three-member House of Assembly, complicating relations between the executive and legislature.
The renewed tension has reportedly hindered the appointment of new commissioners, prompting the governor to reassign responsibilities among existing cabinet members.
Confirming the reshuffle, a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Honour Sirawoo, said Green would continue to oversee the Ministry of Sports in an acting capacity until a substantive commissioner is appointed.
