Former Chief of Staff to Siminalayi Fubara, Edison Ehie, has dismissed reports linking him to a purported 2027 deputy governorship ambition, describing the claim as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
Ehie made the clarification in a statement issued on Saturday while reacting to campaign posters seen in public spaces suggesting he was part of an emerging political alliance under the platform of the African Democratic Congress.
The posters alleged that the former lawmaker was aligned with Dakuku Peterside in a political arrangement aimed at what was described as “freeing Rivers from the hands of one man.”
Rejecting the narrative in strong terms, Ehie described the development as a “mischievous and desperate” attempt to mislead the public and stir unnecessary tension within Rivers State’s political environment.
He insisted that he has no connection whatsoever with the alleged political arrangement, stressing that the use of his name and image in the campaign material was unauthorized and deliberately deceptive.
The former Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, maintaining that his political allegiance remains unchanged.
Ehie also reiterated his continued support for Governor Fubara, commending the current administration’s leadership style and commitment to stability in the state.
According to him, Rivers State does not need “rescue from imaginary enemies,” noting that the state is currently enjoying purposeful governance, unity, and focused leadership under the present administration.
He warned those behind what he described as propaganda to desist from spreading false narratives, adding that the people of Rivers State are politically aware and will not be deceived by calculated misinformation.
Ehie urged residents to ignore the posters and remain committed to the collective development and progress of the state, while reaffirming that his loyalty remains firmly with the APC and Governor Fubara’s leadership.
