The Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL) Final Eight concluded on Sunday, with Rivers Hoopers, Lagos Legends, Gboko City Chiefs, and Nigeria Customs booking their places in the Final Four.
Reigning champions Rivers Hoopers and Lagos Legends finished top of the standings, each recording six wins and one loss. Gboko City Chiefs followed in third with five wins and two losses, while Nigeria Customs claimed the last semifinal slot, narrowly edging out Kano Pillars and Nile University Spartans.
The four teams will battle for the 2025 NPBL championship title and the coveted Basketball Africa League (BAL) ticket when the Final Four tips off from November 20 to 24, 2025.
All games will be played in a round-robin format, with each team facing the other three once. Rivers Hoopers will look to defend their crown and secure a return to continental action.
Sunday’s action ended with a dramatic showdown between Gboko City Chiefs and Hoops & Read, both vying for a Final Four berth. The Chiefs held on for a narrow 63–62 victory after leading by as much as 20 points earlier in the game. Michael Oriahki led the scoring with 16 points.
