Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has called on Arsenal fans who doubted Noni Madueke’s signing to apologise after the winger’s impressive start at the Emirates.
Arsenal paid £52 million to bring Madueke from Chelsea, a move that sparked debate among supporters. However, with Bukayo Saka sidelined by injury, the 22-year-old has seized his chance for both club and country.
Speaking on his YouTube channel ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Athletic Club, Ferdinand said:
“I just want to give the haters, the naysayers who were hammering Madueke a message. He’s delivered in a game and Arsenal fans are now salivating over him and saying they love him, he’s our saviour. Those fans need to come out now and say sorry.”
Madueke started in Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League win over Athletic Club on Tuesday, further justifying the Gunners’ faith in him.
