In the wake of last Sunday’s mass church abduction of 177 worshippers in Kajuru, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has labeled Rijana settlement in Kachia LGA a key hub of insecurity.
Governor Sani made the remarks during a visit to Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru, where suspected bandits abducted the worshippers from three churches during Sunday services.
Rijana, located along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, has long been associated with criminal activity. Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai had previously proposed relocating the community due to its reputation as a haven for bandits.
Governor Sani also called on the Federal Government to establish a military base in Kurmin Wali, citing its strategic location near Rijana and the need to prevent further attacks in the area.
Reports indicate that the Kaduna State Government and the State Police Command initially denied the incident. It was only on Tuesday that the names of the 177 abducted worshippers were officially released.
Sani assured residents that the state government is taking steps to secure the safe return of the victims.
