The Kebbi State Government on Wednesday confirmed that medical reports showed none of the 24 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, suffered any form of sexual abuse while in captivity.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Halima Bande, made the announcement during the formal handover of the rescued girls to their parents at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
“Today, we are in a happy mood as we hand over these freed girls to their parents. All glory goes to our Creator, who made it possible for our leaders to carry out the rescue,” she said. “Our greatest joy is that medical reports have confirmed all the girls are safe and free from any form of sexual abuse”.
Bande expressed appreciation to all stakeholders, including parents, religious leaders, and traditional institutions, for their contributions to the successful rescue operation.
Governor Nasir Idris, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to God for the safe return of the students and commended the coordinated efforts of state and federal authorities.
The 24 schoolgirls were abducted in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025, by suspected bandits who attacked the school in Maga, Agwara Local Government Area.
