Remo Stars have officially announced the departure of their midfielder Tochukwu Michael, who has completed a transfer to Austrian Bundesliga outfit Wolfsberger AC, marking another milestone in the 21-year-old’s fast-rising football career.
The Ikenne-based club confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday, revealing that an agreement in principle had been reached with the Austrian side. They also extended appreciation to Michael for his contributions to the team and wished him success as he begins a new chapter in Europe.
“Agreement reached in principle for the transfer of Tochukwu Michael to Wolfsberger AC. The club appreciates the midfielder and wishes him a successful time in Austria,” the club posted on its official X account.
Wolfsberger, known commercially as RZ Pellets WAC, also confirmed the deal, disclosing that the Nigerian midfielder has signed a three-year contract.
“RZ Pellets WAC announces the signing of Tochukwu Michael Raymond on deadline day. The central midfielder comes to the Lavant Valley from Remo Stars FC, for whom he scored two goals and provided four assists in 34 appearances last season, and signs a three-year contract in the Wolf Pack,” the Austrian club stated.
The club further explained that Michael would join his new teammates in Austria after completing visa procedures, having just returned from international duty.
“In recent weeks, the 21-year-old Nigerian has been in action for his home country at the African Nations Championship before he is expected in Wolfsberg after the visa modalities have been completed,” the statement added.
Michael’s transfer follows a standout season in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), where his creativity and consistency in midfield played a key role in helping Remo Stars secure a strong league finish. His two goals and four assists in 34 matches underscored his growing reputation as one of the NPFL’s most promising playmakers.
He was also part of Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles squad at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), featuring in all three group-stage matches before the team’s early elimination.
Upon returning from national duty, Michael appeared in Remo Stars’ NPFL opener against Rivers United, just before his move abroad was finalised — a testament to his value within coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s setup.
Now settled in Austria, Michael has joined full training with Wolfsberger and expressed excitement about the opportunity to play in Europe. The young midfielder pledged to give his best and make a strong impact for his new club.
