Nigerian singer Rema has achieved a major milestone with his debut album, Rave & Roses, which has now spent 170 weeks on the Billboard World Albums Chart, setting a new record for the longest-charting African album.
The previous record was held by Wizkid with his 2021 album Made In Lagos, which charted for 164 weeks. Other notable African projects on the chart include Tems’ Born In The Wild (79 weeks), Burna Boy’s Love, Damini (63 weeks), and Fela Kuti’s The Best Of The Black President (45 weeks).
In addition to this achievement, Rema secured his second entry on the Billboard Hot 100 with Secondhand, a collaboration with Don Toliver, which debuted at number 29 this week.
Meanwhile, Tems also debuted on the Hot 100 with her new track What You Need, bringing her total Hot 100 entries to seven, tying the joint African record with Burna Boy and South African rock group Seether.
These milestones reflect the growing global influence of African music, highlighting the enduring popularity of artists like Rema and his contemporaries on international charts.
