Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking her mother, Rita Daniels, over her ongoing marital crisis with politician Ned Nwoko.
In an emotional Instagram video shared on Wednesday, Regina addressed the growing wave of online criticism directed at her mother, describing it as painful and unfair.
She clarified that her mother had no hand in her marriage decisions, stressing that she alone bears full responsibility for the choices she made as a young adult.
“Please, I am begging everyone, stop insulting my mother. Na me carry my two legs enter,” she said tearfully. “She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She’s strong, she’s my God on earth. My mom held it down for seven good years, she tried. She warned me, my brothers warned me. I’m ashamed to say I fell in love.”
Regina explained that when she chose to marry at a young age, her family, including her mother, initially opposed the decision. However, she was determined to proceed and even took measures to ensure the marriage went ahead despite their objections.
She recalled visiting a police station to report family members who attempted to stop her from going through with the union, insisting that the decision was entirely hers.
The actress noted that while she understands public interest comes with fame, there should be limits to online scrutiny, especially when innocent family members are being attacked during moments of personal pain.
“My mother should not be blamed for my decisions. She’s endured so much and doesn’t deserve the hate,” Regina said.
Amid the turmoil, Regina revealed that her family is already under immense emotional strain, with her brother still reported missing, and urged the public to show empathy and understanding during this difficult time.
Her plea comes as social media continues to buzz with discussions around her marriage and family situation, with fans and celebrities alike weighing in on the controversy.
Through her heartfelt appeal, Regina Daniels reminded her followers that beyond the spotlight, celebrities are human, capable of mistakes, heartbreak, and the need for compassion.
