The Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda, has called on wealthy individuals across the state to intensify humanitarian support for the poor, orphans, and vulnerable households during the holy month of Ramadan.
Radda said acts of charity at this spiritually significant period attract immense rewards and divine blessings, urging the affluent to give generously while they have the opportunity.
“Death comes without notice,” the governor warned. “We must therefore act now, extend support to those in need, and avoid regrets when it is too late.”
He spoke on Wednesday at a Ramadan Feeding Programme organised by the Naufal Ahmad Development Foundation in Katsina, where at least 1,600 beneficiaries received 10kg bags of rice and grains.
Addressing attendees, Radda noted that many of the women present had left their daily routines — and in some cases their children and families — to benefit from the intervention, underscoring the depth of hardship faced by vulnerable households.
“If there was no genuine need, they would not be here,” he said, pointing to the realities confronting many families.
The governor urged the faithful to remember Katsina State and Nigeria in their prayers, particularly at the time of breaking their fast, and stressed the importance of empathy and collective responsibility.
“We can only succeed as a society when we feel each other’s pain and support one another,” he added. “Good deeds such as this should even be publicised, so that others may learn from them and be inspired to do the same.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the foundation and Director-General of the Katsina State Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, Naufal Ahmad, emphasised that charity is a core teaching of Islam, especially during Ramadan.
He encouraged well-meaning individuals to support the less privileged, assuring them that generosity brings divine increase.
“Whenever you give, you will certainly receive more. Wealth multiplies through charity,” Ahmad said.
The Ramadan initiative forms part of broader efforts by individuals and organisations within the state to cushion the economic strain faced by vulnerable residents during the fasting period.
