Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling rejected a late opportunity to join Bayern Munich in the final days of the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.
The 30-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Arsenal, was approached by the Bundesliga champions during their negotiations to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson on loan.
However, Sterling turned down the move, citing reluctance to relocate his family to Germany or spend extended time away from them.
Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, who played alongside Sterling for four years at Manchester City, recently described their relationship as one that will “always remain,” having won six major trophies together, including the Premier League.
