Comrade Auwal Ibrahim Musa Rafsanjani, Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), has officially accepted his appointment as the Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Free Light of Nigerian Youth Foundation (FLONY).
This youth-led non-governmental organization is dedicated to skills acquisition, capacity building, and advocacy initiatives aimed at empowering young people and women across Nigeria.
FLONY currently operates in over 18 states, having positively impacted more than 10,000 beneficiaries since its inception through various training and empowerment initiatives.
During a courtesy visit to the CISLAC Head Office, FLONY Founder Ambassador Farid Musa Jauro described Rafsanjani’s appointment as both strategic and timely. She emphasized that his longstanding dedication to advancing the rights and opportunities for young Nigerians and Africans makes him particularly suited to lead the organization during this critical phase of its development.
Ambassador Jauro remarked, “Rafsanjani’s extensive experience in governance, transparency advocacy, and youth development will provide essential guidance and strengthen FLONY’s focus as we consolidate our programs and extend our reach.”
The Acting Secretary General of FLONY, Alhaji Aminu Lawal Usman, expressed gratitude to Rafsanjani and the CISLAC team for their commitment to serving in an advisory capacity. He reaffirmed the foundation’s dedication to deepening its impact in communities and expressed confidence that Rafsanjani’s leadership would foster greater growth and partnership opportunities.
“With Comrade Rafsanjani’s arrival, we believe the foundation will significantly benefit from his knowledge and experience to enhance our efforts for Nigerians and Africans at large,” Usman stated, praising Rafsanjani’s open-door policy and ongoing support for civil society initiatives.
In his acceptance speech, Rafsanjani, who also serves as the Head of Transparency International Nigeria, lauded FLONY for its unwavering commitment to youth and women empowerment through skills acquisition programs, often delivered without external funding.
He commended Ambassador Jauro’s leadership and urged the organization to maintain its non-partisan stance, avoiding political interference to preserve its credibility and neutrality.
