Former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Mercy Atang has shared a personal reflection on motherhood, revealing that she once feared the idea of giving birth.
The reality television star made the revelation in a heartfelt message posted in celebration of Mother’s Day, where she spoke about how motherhood has reshaped her priorities and outlook on life.
According to Atang, the thought of childbirth used to terrify her years ago, leading her to believe she never wanted to have children. However, she said her perspective has since changed.
She explained that becoming a mother has been a deeply rewarding experience that has strengthened her determination to work harder and build a meaningful future for her child.
“Motherhood has been such an incredible journey,” she wrote. “Funny enough, years ago, I used to say I never wanted to give birth because I was so scared. Now when I think about it, I just laugh at myself. Life really has a way of changing your mind.”
Atang noted that the responsibilities of motherhood have made her more focused and resilient. Despite the challenges that come with raising a child, she said the love she feels as a parent makes the effort worthwhile.
She added that even on days when she feels exhausted or sleep-deprived, the experience remains fulfilling.
The reality TV star also used the occasion to celebrate mothers across the world, encouraging them to appreciate their strength and dedication.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers around the world,” she wrote. “Take your flowers, mommies—you deserve them and so much more.”
Atang concluded her message with a prayer for wisdom, patience, and strength for mothers as they continue raising their children.
