Qatar announced it will hold funerals on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in the capital Doha for those killed in an unprecedented Israeli airstrike that targeted Hamas figures in the Gulf nation earlier this week.
In a statement released on X, the Ministry of Interior said: “The funeral prayer for the martyrs of the Israeli targeting will be held on Thursday afternoon at the Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque, after which they will be laid to rest at Mesaimeer Cemetery.”
The Tuesday strike, which marked Israel’s first direct attack on Qatari soil, targeted Hamas leadership in Doha. While the group insisted its top officials survived, five of its members were killed alongside a Qatari security officer.
Among the dead were Human al-Hayya, son of senior Hamas negotiator Khalil al-Hayya; Jihad Labad, his office director; and bodyguards Ahmad Mamlouk, Abdallah Abdelwahd, and Mumen Hassoun.
Also killed was Qatari Lance Corporal Saad Mohammed al-Humaidi al-Dosari, a member of the state’s security forces.
Speaking to CNN on Wednesday, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani declined to confirm the fate of Khalil al-Hayya, who was widely believed to have been a target of the strike.
The attack has sent shockwaves across the Gulf, raising regional tensions and drawing international attention to Israel’s widening campaign against Hamas.
