AC Milan sent a strong message in the Serie A title race with a 2-1 victory over Napoli at the San Siro on Sunday, despite playing the final half-hour with 10 men.
Christian Pulisic starred for the Rossoneri, assisting Alexis Saelemaekers’ third-minute opener and then doubling the lead just after the half-hour mark. The American forward now has six goals in all competitions this season and received a standing ovation when substituted.
Napoli pulled one back through a Kevin De Bruyne penalty in the 60th minute after Pervis Estupiñán was sent off for Milan, but Antonio Conte’s side failed to find an equaliser despite late pressure.
The win lifts Milan to 12 points, edging them above both Napoli and Roma on goal difference, while Napoli turn their focus to their upcoming Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon.
