Public affairs analyst and legal practitioner, Frank Tietie, in a recent statement has refuted claims that he petitioned President Bola Tinubu to remove Nyesom Wike from his position as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Tietie characterized Wike as a resilient and innovative politician, emphasizing that his recent efforts in project execution and infrastructural development in Abuja have been unparalleled.
Tietie, who serves as the Executive Director of the Citizens Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights (CASER)—a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting good governance—described the rumors as false and misleading. He asserted that while public officials are not infallible, constructive criticism is a vital aspect of democratic governance.
Highlighting Wike’s strengths in political survival and timely project delivery, Tietie stated, “I am not opposed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, nor have I ever petitioned President Tinubu for his dismissal.” He criticized the claims as unfounded and accused the sources of attempting to distort his public comments to undermine Wike’s position.
Tietie condemned the alleged “cheap political plot” aimed at pressuring the President for Wike’s removal, clarifying that he has no association with such agendas. He indicated his willingness to seek legal action against those spreading the false narrative, urging the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the matter.
Emphasizing the importance of truth and responsible journalism, Tietie called for public discourse to be based on verified facts rather than misinformation. He affirmed his commitment to providing objective commentary while balancing constructive criticism and acknowledgment of performance, which he believes are crucial for enhancing accountability and good governance in Nigeria.
