Music producer Rexxie has stirred debate in the Nigerian music space after alleging that the rise of Afrobeats singer Seyi Vibez was not organic but carefully planned.
Speaking during a recent TikTok livestream, the Abracadabra crooner claimed that Seyi Vibez’s breakthrough was an “orchestration,” suggesting that strategic planning by people behind the scenes played a major role in his success. While acknowledging what he described as a divine element, Rexxie insisted that the singer’s rise was largely structured and deliberate.
According to him, Seyi Vibez’s team also attempted to create a public rivalry with fellow Afrobeats star Asake as a way to gain attention. Rexxie alleged that the move was aimed at generating clout but said the effort failed after Asake reportedly declined to engage.
Rexxie maintained that such tactics are not uncommon in the music industry, arguing that fans should not deceive themselves about how some careers are built. However, he declined to provide further details on the alleged attempts to spark the feud.
As of the time of filing this report, Seyi Vibez has not responded publicly to Rexxie’s claims.
