Nigerian actress and comedian Princess has criticised Biola Adebayo for her controversial interview with convicted sex offender Baba Ijesha, describing it as insensitive and hurtful to the victim’s family.
In an Instagram video, Princess, whose foster daughter was the victim, questioned how Adebayo—who claims to be a rape survivor—could host someone convicted of sexually assaulting a child and allow them to cast aspersions on the family. She said the interview prioritised views and financial gain over the welfare of the child involved.
“Since it’s not you and it’s not your child, it’s okay. Since it’s for views and for money, it’s okay. You didn’t stop to think that the child in question is the child of a colleague and an acquaintance,” Princess said, describing Adebayo’s actions as “wicked” and insensitive.
Princess also revealed that the interview has led to relentless online harassment, including insults, trolling, and threats directed at her. She criticised Adebayo for not contacting her before publishing the video, even though they had communicated previously.
Adebayo later issued an apology, stating that her interview was intended as journalistic work, not to exonerate Baba Ijesha or condone his actions. She emphasised that she would never support a convicted paedophile. Baba Ijesha was convicted in 2022 for sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child and remains listed on Lagos’ Sexual Offenders Register.
Princess concluded by challenging Adebayo’s claim to Christianity, arguing that true faith would prevent someone from causing harm to a child or another human being, reinforcing her stance that the interview was morally and ethically wrong.
