President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ms. Damilola Ogunbiyi, Chief Executive Officer and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, on her recognition as the only Nigerian named to the Forbes Sustainability Leaders 2025 list, which honours 50 global figures driving decisive climate action.
The President commended Ms. Ogunbiyi for her visionary leadership in advancing an equitable energy transition, particularly her efforts to deliver access to clean, affordable power for underprivileged communities across the Global South.
He highlighted her role in championing the UN-led Energy Compacts and spearheading the Mission 300 partnership, which aims to provide electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030—initiatives that underscore Nigeria’s enduring contribution to the global climate and energy agenda.
President Tinubu affirmed that the honour reflects not only Ms. Ogunbiyi’s personal excellence but also Nigeria’s growing influence in shaping sustainable development solutions worldwide.
He encouraged her to continue serving as an inspiration to young Nigerians and women across Africa, while wishing her continued success as she carries the nation’s flag with pride on the global stage.
