President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that his administration remains resolute in its determination to overcome terrorism threatening the nation’s security.
The President gave the assurance in his opening remarks at the ongoing National Executive Council Conference on Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development, where he described insecurity as one of the most pressing challenges confronting the country.
“We are leaving here once again to explore further ways of strengthening our security forces to decisively defeat terrorism and banditry. That is my promise to you,” Tinubu said.
“It is an issue that has kept all of us sleepless at night, but with determination and resilience, we will prevail. This level of terrorism and banditry is unacceptable—it is not part of who we are; it is foreign to our culture.”
The President warned that persistent insecurity poses a serious drag on economic growth, stressing that sustainable development cannot be achieved without lasting peace and stability.
Tinubu also commended several state governors for their commitment to safeguarding lives and property, singling out the governors of Borno, Katsina, and Kaduna States for their efforts in defending the nation’s freedom and security.
“I commend many of you, particularly the governors of Borno, Katsina, and Kaduna, and others who have done so much to protect our freedom, liberty, and commonwealth,” he said.
Turning to economic reforms, the President said his administration is focused on strengthening macroeconomic stability through improved revenue generation, stronger public financial management, and enhanced fiscal coordination.
“We have prioritised infrastructure development across transportation, power, digital connectivity, housing, and irrigation as key drivers of inclusive growth,” Tinubu noted.
He further disclosed that the government has expanded social investment and human capital development programmes aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable households, women, youths, and small businesses.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Ward Development Project underscores the administration’s commitment to grassroots development through a bottom-up approach, while reflecting strong collaboration among the federal, state, and local governments, development partners, and the private sector.
Looking ahead, President Tinubu highlighted the Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026–2030 as the next phase of Nigeria’s development journey, describing it as evidence-based, realistic, and anchored on inclusive, balanced, and environmentally sustainable growth.
“The plan prioritises economic diversification and productivity, human capital development, sub-national competitiveness based on comparative advantage, and climate resilience. Its success will largely depend on effective implementation at the state and local government levels, ensuring that national priorities align with local realities,” the President said.
