The Federal Government says President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to Turkey is proceeding as planned, despite a brief incident during a ceremonial event in Ankara.
Reacting to reports that the President momentarily missed a step on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Communications, Sunday Dare, said there was no cause for concern, stressing that Tinubu remains in good health and fully engaged with his official schedule.
In a post on his verified X handle, Dare said the President continued with all planned activities after the ceremonial welcome, including bilateral meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other senior officials.
The incident occurred shortly after a parade held in Tinubu’s honour while he was walking alongside his Turkish counterpart. A review of video footage indicated that the movement of a cameraman close to the President may have contributed to the brief stumble.
President Tinubu quickly regained his balance and went on to participate in high-level engagements aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and Turkey.
