The Premier League returns this weekend after the October international break, with fans set for an exciting round of fixtures headlined by the clash between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday evening.
Beyond that marquee matchup, there are several other games where potential upsets could unfold.
- Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea
Venue: City Ground, Saturday afternoon
Nottingham Forest, currently 17th on the table, will host Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea after losing 2–0 to Newcastle in their last outing. Despite Chelsea’s 2–1 win over Liverpool, the Blues could face a tough test away from home, as Forest aim to bounce back and avoid another defeat.
2. Fulham vs Arsenal
Venue: Craven Cottage
Fulham suffered a disappointing loss to Bournemouth last time out, while league leaders Arsenal cruised past West Ham United. Though the Gunners are favourites, Fulham will count on their home advantage to try and stun Mikel Arteta’s side.
3. Tottenham vs Aston Villa
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday afternoon
Third-placed Tottenham Hotspur face Aston Villa, who sit 13th but have shown flashes of quality this season. Both sides won their last league matches — Spurs beating Leeds and Villa defeating Burnley — but Unai Emery’s team have the tools to spring a surprise in North London.
4. Manchester City vs Everton
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Though Pep Guardiola’s men are clear favourites, Everton, sitting 8th, could pose problems after impressive wins against Crystal Palace. City are currently 5th and under pressure to close the gap at the top, but Sean Dyche’s disciplined side may yet pull off a shock result at the Etihad.
With several teams desperate for points and momentum, this weekend’s fixtures could serve up plenty of Premier League drama and surprises.
