Ange Postecoglou has reportedly reached an agreement to become the new head coach of Nottingham Forest, following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo.
Sky Sports revealed on Tuesday that the 60-year-old Australian tactician is poised to make his return to Premier League management, with an announcement expected ahead of Forest’s clash with Arsenal.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager entered into discussions with the club earlier this week, and negotiations progressed quickly to finalise terms. Postecoglou will become Forest’s eighth permanent manager since Evangelos Marinakis assumed ownership in 2017.
Postecoglou was dismissed by Spurs at the end of last season after a disappointing league campaign that saw them finish 17th. However, he ended his tenure on a high note, guiding the North London side to a landmark Europa League triumph that broke their long-standing trophy drought.
Forest, who currently sit 10th in the Premier League after three matches, parted company with Nuno during September’s international break. His final game was a 3-0 home defeat to West Ham United.
The Portuguese coach, who arrived in December 2023 after Steve Cooper’s departure, had preserved Forest’s top-flight status and steered the team to seventh place last season – their best finish since 1994-95 – securing European football for the first time in 30 years.
