Singer Portable has condemned Nigerian pastors for their silence following the Palm Sunday attack on Christians in Jos, Plateau State.
The attack, reportedly carried out by suspected jihadist militias, has reignited debates over alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, claims previously denied by the Federal Government.
Portable accused pastors of hypocrisy, stating they prioritize personal safety in bulletproof vehicles while failing to advocate for their congregations under threat.
He questioned why clergy members are not leading protests to demand justice, asserting that Islamic clerics would not remain silent if Muslims were similarly attacked. Speaking in Yoruba and Pidgin, he said: “Why are Nigerian pastors not fighting for Christians? They use bulletproof cars yet their followers are dying… If you kill a Christian, the pastor will look away and being enjoying in his car.”
His remarks highlight growing frustration among citizens and public figures over the perceived inaction of religious leaders in the face of rising attacks against Christians in Nigeria.
