Two-time Rugby World Cup champion Handre Pollard welcomed another member of his very own “Baby Bok” team when his wife, Marise, gave birth to a bouncing baby girl on Monday, 20 October.
The Mediclinic Louis Leipoldt in Bellville announced the joyful news on the private hospital’s official Facebook page, continuing their heartwarming tradition of new fathers raising a flag outside the facility to mark the occasion.
Baby Bok No 2 for Handre and Marise Pollard
In this case, a visibly proud Pollard celebrated his daughter’s birth with a bright pink flag.
“Mediclinic Louis Leipoldt would like to congratulate Handré and Marise Pollard on the newest addition to their family,” the hospital stated.
The hospital itself, incidentally, continues a family tradition, as the 30-year-old Marise was also born there.
“In a full circle, mom was also born at this hospital, making it a lovely moment for all!”
Team Pollard
Pollard rejoined his boyhood team, the Bulls, in early 2025 after leaving the Leicester Tigers in the United Kingdom.
While the flyhalf made his return to the Springbok line-up for a United Rugby Championship match in October, he was given paternity leave and is temporarily out of the team.
With their latest “Baby Bok” addition, the Pollards are now a family of four. Their son, Hunter, turned one in April.
Last weekend of 3: Marise Pollard and ‘the boys’
Marise, who announced her pregnancy in April, took to Instagram over the past weekend to share a carousel of images showcasing some family-of-three moments before Baby Bok No 2’s arrival.
The couple started dating about 12 years ago before tying the knot in 2017 at the Cavalli Estate in the picturesque Cape Winelands.
The positively glowing Springboks WAG’s special photos ranged from spending time at their home in Paarl, to exploring the great outdoors and enjoying a dinner date with her sweetheart.
She captioned her post: “Ons laaste naweek as ‘n familie van 3 [Our last weekend as a family of 3].”

The 30-year-old has also been sharing her pregnancy journey with her followers on social media.
While the Springbok flyhalf was on tour with the national team last month, Marise and some of her nearest and dearest friends and family celebrated her baby shower on a farm.
“The best day celebrating our baby girl in the most beautiful place,” the expectant rugby WAG captioned her Instagram post.
“Wrapped in love, held in prayer and surrounded by those who mean the most. Thank you for filling our hearts and her future with so much light. I am grateful and love every one of you.”
Another bumper baby season for Boks!
It appears that 2025 is yet another bumper “bokkie” year for our Springboks with Marise being only one of the Springboks WAGs, alongside Aneeka Papier, Anlia Etzebeth, and Miné de Klerk, expected to give birth.
Popular blonde scrumhalf Faf de Klerk and Miné, became parents to little Remi-Ré de Klerk at the end of February last year, with another baby girl on the way.
Faf’s petite wife recently took to Instagram as well to share how excited she is to welcome her second bundle of joy to the world.
She captioned a picture of her and Remi-Ré in matching maroon outfits at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Durban:
“Only 2 months left as my only baby girl.”
