The Ebonyi State Police Command has neutralised a notorious criminal kingpin who had been terrorising residents of Iyonu community in Ishielu Local Government Area.
Spokesman of the command, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abakaliki, noting that the breakthrough was achieved by operatives of the Crack Squad.
Ukandu identified the suspect as Isaiah Okoronkwo, who had long been on the command’s wanted list.
He explained that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb the recent surge in armed robbery and other violent crimes in the area.
“The Ebonyi State Police Command has continued its sustained onslaught against violent crimes, and this marks another major success,” Ukandu stated.
He further quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya, as commending the operatives for their professionalism, courage, and reliance on painstaking intelligence gathering.
According to him, Uche-Anya reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
