Former Big Brother Naija housemate and comedian Aderombi Adedayo, widely known as Dee One, has confirmed receiving an invitation from the Nigeria Police Force for an interview.
The request was issued by the Force Intelligence Department (FID) as part of what the police described as a routine, fact-finding process. Dee One shared a copy of the official letter on X, formerly Twitter, stating that the interview is connected to an ongoing inquiry.
According to the document, the comedian is expected to report at the FID Annex Office in Lagos on Monday.
Reacting publicly, Dee One suggested that the police invitation may be related to a video he recently posted online. In the video, he commented on an incident involving Nigeria’s president during a visit to Turkey.
“I noticed something unusual involving our president in Turkey and shared my opinion as a regular Nigerian,” he explained. “If this invitation is connected to that video, I’ve received mixed reactions since posting it.”
He added that some people accused him of crossing a line, including mentioning the president’s son, while others defended his right to express his views.
As of the time of reporting, the Nigeria Police Force has not released further details about the nature of the inquiry. The situation has sparked online discussions about free expression, public commentary, and the responsibilities of social media users in Nigeria.
