The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers after foiling a kidnapping attempt in Alkaleri Local Government Area and its environs.
This was contained in a press release issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil.
Wakil said the development was part of proactive measures to tackle insecurity in the state.
According to him, the command acted on a distress call received on September 28, 2025, from Maso Kano village in Jada Pali district, reporting an armed assault by suspected kidnappers wielding AK-47 rifles.
“The abducted individuals were Hambali Alh. Sa’adu, aged 50, and Jari Alh. Sa’adu, aged 35,” Wakil stated.
He explained that a combined team of police officers and special hunters swiftly responded to the call and engaged the suspects in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee.
“The victims were rescued unharmed, and efforts to track down the perpetrators commenced immediately,” he added.
Wakil disclosed that during investigations between September 29 and 30, the command apprehended three suspects linked to the kidnapping activities in Alkaleri and Kirfi LGAs.
The suspects include Adamu Ahmadu (28), Bello Alhaji Musa (18), and Adamu Alhaji Musa (29).
He said all the suspects, who are from Shalhori village near Kirfi, confessed to the crime, revealing that they conspired with three other accomplices still at large to carry out the abduction for ransom.
“The command is actively pursuing the remaining suspects to ensure they are brought to justice,” Wakil said.
Wakil stated that while the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, he also directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation to ensure that all those involved are prosecuted.
