The Kebbi State Police Command has announced heightened security measures across the state ahead of the Yuletide celebrations, assuring residents of its readiness to maintain peace and public safety during the festive period and beyond.
The move comes amid preparations for increased social activities, interstate travel, and public gatherings traditionally associated with Christmas and end-of-year festivities.
The Police said the arrangements will also cover the planned nationwide protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress, which falls within the same period.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, quoted the Commissioner of Police as saying the Command had deployed adequate personnel to strategic locations to ensure a peaceful celebration across Kebbi State.
“The Kebbi State Police Command is fully prepared to ensure the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the Yuletide celebrations,” the statement said.
According to the Command, security presence has been strengthened around worship centres, markets, motor parks, recreational areas, and major highways to deter criminal activities often associated with the festive season.
The statement added that the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has intensified patrols, improved intelligence-led operations, and adopted a visible show of force to proactively prevent any breakdown of law and order.
“Our officers will be visibly deployed across the state to enhance operational visibility, deter criminal elements, and provide reassurance to law-abiding residents during the festivities,” it noted.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting emergencies or suspicious movements.
The Kebbi State Police Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining peace throughout the Yuletide season and beyond, urging residents to celebrate responsibly and go about their festivities without fear.
