The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two men accused of orchestrating the violent attack on Nigerian rapper Keshinro Ololade, widely known as Lil Kesh.
The suspects, identified as Mathew Adewole (25) and Mukhtar Muhammad (31), were apprehended on September 11, 2025, at Na’ibawa Quarters in Kano after weeks of intelligence-led tracking.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, Adewole confessed to invading Lil Kesh’s residence at Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos, on August 19. The attack left the artist with a deep neck wound in what authorities described as an attempted murder.
Investigations revealed that during the assault, Adewole allegedly compelled the rapper to transfer ₦2.12 million into Muhammad’s account before escaping.
“The Kano State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in a recent case of armed robbery and attempted murder, thanks to robust intelligence and community collaboration,” Haruna said.
The arrests, police added, align with Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun’s directive to intensify intelligence operations and curb violent crime nationwide.
The suspects have since been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the operatives for their swift action and praised members of the public for their cooperation.
