The Ondo State Police Command has detained three suspects linked to the violent attack on Fuji musician Obesere and his crew in Okitipupa last Friday.
The musician was assaulted shortly after performing at a burial ceremony in the town, an incident that sparked public outrage and calls for accountability.
Reacting to the development, the chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Soga Andrew Ogunsakin, condemned the attack in a statement shared on Facebook. He said he initiated immediate steps to restore order once the incident was reported.
According to Ogunsakin, three individuals believed to be connected to the assault have been arrested, and some of the items stolen from Obesere during the attack have been recovered. Efforts are ongoing to track down other suspects who fled the scene.
“I’m pleased to inform the public that three suspects connected to the disturbance have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to track down other individuals involved,” he said. “Some stolen items have also been successfully recovered.”
Ogunsakin also disclosed that he had contacted the musician’s management for a scheduled meeting to express concern and ensure further steps are taken to prevent a recurrence.
The police investigation remains active as authorities continue tracing others involved in the attack.
